Nauzanin Knight

Director

Nauzanin Knight is a Canadian writer, director, and producer of Iranian and Barbadian heritage. Her work explores pressing social issues, reflecting her unique background and international experiences. She holds an MSc from University College London and began her career in creative writing, publishing “State Terrorism in Iran: Understanding the Case of the Iranian Bahá’í Community” before transitioning to film. Nauzanin has since written, directed, and produced acclaimed projects, including “My Lyric I Never Knew” (CBC Canadian Reflections, American Indian Film Festival), “ColorBlind (Edmonton International Film Festival, CineFAM Film Festival), and #ShadesofWorth (Toronto Black Film Festival). She is currently directing “White Sands” (National Film Board of Canada) and The Forbidden University. She is an alumna of WIDC, Whistler Doc Lab, ReelWorld, and Whistler Film Festival Doc Lab.

A leader in advancing diversity in film, she is a member of the Racial Screen Leadership Committee, founder of BE Collective, and the author of Building Inclusive Networks in the Film and Television Industry published by Telefilm and Canada Media Fund.

As Executive Producer of 1844 Studios, Nauzanin is committed to fostering international artistic collaborations and telling powerful stories that highlight the universality of human emotion and resilience.
